the tattoo writer is joining forces with Quais du Polar to mark the 20th anniversary of the Lyon International Thriller Festival with a photographic exhibition at Artribal Tatouages from Friday 5 April.

In an immersive space at the heart of the studio founded by tattoo artist Mathias Bugo, a selection of silver prints will reflect the unprecedented account left by Japanese writer-photographer Akimitsu Takagi of tattooing in Tokyo in the 1950s.

A special scenography has been designed for the event. It includes an entire wall featuring reproductions of the covers of Takagi’s 81 books published in paperback by Japanese publisher Kadokawa Shoten. It will showcase the formidable output of Takagi, one of the greatest writers of 20th-century Japanese crime fiction.

The exhibition will be open for the three days of the festival, Friday 5, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April, from 11am to 7pm. It will then remain open until Saturday 4 May.

Poster design: Caroline Thiriet.

Quais du Polar, Europe’s leading festival dedicated to the genre

The Quais du Polar festival is THE place to be for thrillers in France and Europe. It is recognised not only by book and publishing professionals, but also by audiences who appreciate the many events organised by the festival. Each year, Quais du Polar brings together a number of projects relating to crime and noir literature: meetings, conferences, book signings, events and exhibitions. These projects are then selected and included in the Échos Polar programme. The festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
